Managing Member/Senior Consultant
Karen Miller graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) with over 33 years of accounting experience. Her background includes accounting for the hotel and banking industries, as well as work for a CFO/Controller-for-hire accounting firm where she was heavily involved in construction accounting and implementations for several construction ERPs including Viewpoint Vista, Sage Timberline and Foundation since 2006. During those implementations, she witnessed a genuine need for ongoing consulting and support for companies that did not have the time or the ability to keep up with the constantly changing world of construction technology.
Since 2012, Karen's focus has been Viewpoint Vista where she has enjoyed learning everything possible about the system. She is currently certified in Vista Accounting and Vista Operations and working on a certification in Viewpoint HR Managment, Financial Controls, Field Management and Field Service. Having this extensive knowledge, coupled with many years of construction accounting experience, she has been able to help numerous clients effectively use their system to the best of their ability. Karen is driven by the needs of her customers and is always eager to meet those needs. Many clients are amazed that she chooses to work on implementation after implementation, and never seems to stress with the countless challenges that each implementation brings. Meeting new people and making long-lasting relationships is why consulting is not just Karen's profession but also her passion.
When asked about her role at ConstrucTech Consulting, she said with a big smile "I never dreamed that I would start a new company at the young age of 52. But when my long-time friend, Jeff Johnson and I both shared that we were going out on our own, starting ConstrucTech Consulting together was the obvious choice. I have learned so much from him, not just about Timberline but also how to be a good teacher and carefully explain to our clients every step of the process."
Outside of her professional life, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband Peter and their three grown sons, tailgating before LSU football games, gardening, and fitness training.
